Keaton turned 3 months old today. Her two part photo shoot took a good part of my day and I still wasn't thrilled with my pictures.
Shila got in her head that she wanted to conquer
The Giving Tree. She insisted that I read it to her again and that she wouldn't cry. She made it through most of the book. I could see the struggle in her face, but she was fighting back her tears and insisting that I continue. We made it almost to the end of the book when she finally lost it and started bawling. She laid down on the floor behind the rocking chair and sobbed. I gave her some love and read her a bunny book and she started feeling better. Tonight, when I was putting her to bed, we read
Snoozers (along with 10 other stories). After we started reading, she brought up that I read it to her yesterday to help her feel happy because she was so sad for the tree. It amazes me how in touch she is with emotions at the age of three.

After Ellary got home from school we went to the doctor's office. Ellary had her 5 year well check and she and Shila were both due for shots. While we were in the doctor's office the nurse was floored because they were fighting over who was going to get their shots first. They both WANTED to be first. Ellary wanted to show Shila how easy it was and Shila wanted to prove that she could take the shot just fine on her own. The nurse chose Shila to go first because Ellary was getting the MMR, which burns in addition to the poke from the needle, and she was worried it would spook Shila. She asked Shila to sit on my lap for the shot and she didn't even flinch when she got it. Next was Ellary's turn. She asked the nurse if she could sit by herself on the table. The nurse was reluctant, but let her. Ellary didn't flinch a bit either. It was funny because the nurse had a student working with her and she couldn't believe her eyes. These two little girls who could care less that they were getting shots. After Ellary's shot the nurse turns to me and says, "In all the years I have been a nurse, and I have given a lot of shots, I have NEVER once had a 5 year old sit still for a shot, especially the MMR." Yea Richter girls! I raise em' tough. ;o) BTW, they do get this from me, they obviously don't have the Richter's aversion to needles. Ha ha ha.

Waiting for their shots.
After the doctor's visit we came home to meet Dad, who had just flown home from Boston, and went out to Sweet Tomatoes for dinner. Sweet Tomatoes was the girls dinner choice for being so good during their shots.
Anyone want to come for a visit?? If you weren't considering it before, I thought this shot of the temp might change your mind. ha ha ha.
In all fairness, I was sitting in the parking lot at the restaurant nursing Keaton so the temp was a bit hotter on the asphalt... not that it wasn't plenty hot and humid on its own.

Ellary.
On this day in 2007...
Ellary, very pleased with her attire.
Ellary was into frills, dressing up, picking out her own clothes, etc. from the time she started expressing herself. Where does something like that come from? She certainly didn't get it from me.

Shila. I forget what a little chunk she was until I look back on these pictures.
On this day in 2009...
We were in Dallas, Texas for Papa Sonny's funeral.
