July 25, 2011

My car was out of commission today so we had a fun fulled day around the house.  When Adam got home Shila, Keaton and I headed out to the Holistic Mom's meeting on fermented foods and Ellary stayed home with Dad.

On this day in 2009...

In the 1940s the United States Military started an "experiment" to train the first African-American pilots... the Tuskegee Airmen.

The site at the Tuskegee Institute includes the George W. Carver Museum.  The son of a slave, Dr. Carver was a renowned scientist of agriculture.

In 1814 General Andrew Jackson and his army attacked the Upper Creek warriors on the Tallapoosa River.  Over 800 American Indians lost their lives.  This site preserves the location of that battle.
